Day 2 - Asraf village

Early risers can either watch the sunrise from the top of the hill behind the house or see the host family doing their morning chores (bread baking in a tandir oven, cooking on a traditional stove).
After breakfast, meet with your local escort guide who will take you on a whole day’s hiking tour to the next Nuratau Mountain village Uhum (one way 7,1km / 3:30 hours including rest). Uhum is one of the biggest villages in the area and Uhum valley stretches out for 15 km. The name Uhum originates from the Sogdian word “Axm”, which means ‘fearless warrior’.
Start guided hike from Asraf village (686m high) uphill to Sari Saqallog’u pass (900m high). You will see Mount Saribedak (965 high) on your left. Pass the ruins of the old Mongol fortress “Qorgoni Honkeldi” (768m high) and its settlement ruins (0:30 hours rest) from where you have a nice view of Uhum valley. Once you reach the village of Uhum, continue to walk up to Upper Ukhum village to see an old community watermill, which is still in operation, and the hydro pump that lifts water up to a local house. The owner, Bakhrom Kasimov, will be proudly demonstrating the use of these old devices to you. Have a picnic at the ruins of “Deh” fortress. Return to Asraf village.
Dinner and overnight stay in a local homestay.

Day 3 - Asraf-Sentob

Breakfast with the local family. Say goodbye to your host family and prepare for the departure to your next Nuratau village. Transfer by car to Sentob village (35 min).
Arrive in a homestay in Sentob village.
Your host welcomes you and shows you the homestay facilities. Most of the local houses have large fruit tree gardens where the villagers have tapchans under the walnut trees to sit in the summer. Settle in a homestay.
Lunch with the local family
After lunch, wander around the village to see the mosque, ruins of an ancient fortress, and building style of the local houses. Sentob is one of the few villages where almost all the houses are built in a traditional way using local rocks. Wandering through the village is a fantastic way to see locals doing their traditional livelihood activities. You will also meet many friendly and curious villagers willing to talk to you.
In the afternoon, you have free time to chat with your host family. You may also watch or participate in traditional cooking practices.
Dinner with your hosts.
Overnight stay in a homestay in Sentob.

Day 4 - Sentob village

Kadvan valley is great for bird watching and has a very diverse flora and fauna. Have a picnic on the way. Return to Sentob the same way.
Route B:
For compassionate hikers, we suggest a hike up to the mountain Lake Fazilman (10 hours / 22km return trip). Hike up the Chavaksoy valley to Guzbin (8.3km, 3 ½ hours), reach the mountain pass, near peak Gaukum and continue on the plateau to Lake Fazilman (2.8km, 1 hour). We spend 5 days on this trek, it was quiet and beautiful, a little bit sportif to go to Uhum :o). The guesthouse was very nice, and the meats very (too) copious.
It’s really a haven of peace after all the cities. We are delighted with our stay.
