Hiking tour around Uhum 2 days

Hiking tour around Uhum two days trip to the Uzbek countryside gives you a great chance to get to know the daily livelihood activities of people living in a remote village of the Nuratau Mountains range. You can watch or participate in the preparation of traditional meals from home-produced vegetables during your stay with local a family. Your host will take you on a short hike to the mountains to explore the surrounding area of the village.

Quick Itinerary

Day 1 – Samarkand or Bukhara –Uhum village

At 9:00 be picked up by our driver from your hotel and drive to Uhum village. Arrive in Uhum village by lunchtime and settle in the homestay. In the afternoon, walk around to get to know the village and people relax on the tapchan or supa under the walnut trees. Help or watch to prepare the traditional dishes.
Please note that on this day you explore the village on your own, and the guided tour starts on the next day.

Day 2 – Uhum village- Bukhara or Samarkand

After breakfast, start the easy guided hike to the Nuratau Nature Reserve. See ancient irrigation channels, a petroglyph site, and the mausoleum of Islamic priests. Return to the homestay for lunch.  Leave for the next destination after lunch.

Day 1

Day 1 – Samarkand or Bukhara –Uhum village
At 9:00 be picked up by our driver from your hotel and drive to Uhum village. Arrive in Uhum village by lunchtime and settle in the homestay.  The homestay has a large garden with fruit trees where you can spend some time relaxing on the tapchan (comfortable tea beds).  After having settled, your host will show you their facilities. Lunch with the local family. After lunch, walk around the village to learn about the daily livelihood activities and land-use practices of the villagers (collecting firewood, harvesting, butter making, corn grinding, spinning, weaving, preserving fruits, silkworm raring in spring). In the afternoon, you may watch or help the family in the preparation of the traditional dish Plov from homegrown vegetables and mountain spices. Dinner with your hosts. Overnight stay in a local homestay.

Day 2

Day 2 – Uhum village- Bukhara or Samarkand
Today your escort guide will take you on a guided hike to the buffer zone of Nuratau Nature Reserve (one way 4 km/3,5-4 hours). During your hike to the Nature Reserve, you will see the ancient irrigation channels, the petroglyphs site that is an indicator of the ancient settlement history of the area, and the mausoleum of an Islamic priest.  Return to the homestay and have lunch with the family. Say goodbye to your hosts and leave for the next destination after lunch.
